what is moissanite*

We all know diamonds are a girls best friend, however if you are searching for an affordable diamond alternative…Moissanite may be just the thing for you.

Moissanite is a lab grown white gem which was first discovered over 100 years ago when a meteor struck the earth.  Their brilliance and fire is 2.4 times that of a diamond. Moissanite is a both rare and scarce and therefore the Moissanite we know today is almost exclusively lab grown.

Proven to be harder than a sapphire or ruby and second only to a diamond, Moissanite is extremely resistant to scratching, breaking or chipping. They rank a 9.25 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness which is second only to diamonds.

When viewed side by side diamonds and moissanite are typically indistinguishable.

Add to it that they are eco-friendly and conflict free and are becoming known as the best and most affordable alternatives to diamond engagement rings. The clarity of Moissanite is clean to the eye and can generally be compared to a VS1 diamond.

All of Rough Luxe’s Moissanite Engagement rings use the Charles & Colvard Forever One Moissanite stones. Forever One Moissanite is completely colorless and is similar to a GIA certified E color diamond. The best part is that it is almost impossible to distinguish a Moissanite stone from a diamond with the naked eye. Many jewelers will even have a hard time telling the difference between a diamond & Moissanite without special tools.

Each Moissanite stone set into our rings comes with a certificate of authenticity and a limited lifetime warranty.

Is a Moissanite Engagement ring for you? If you are looking for a conflict free, affordable alternative to a diamond…it may be right up your alley. Most of our engagement ring designs are offered in both diamond and Moissanite options.
